Profile

I grew up and completed my education in the UK, and have lived and worked in France for the majority of the time since I graduated in 1996. I am completely integrated into my local community, and in my home life use both English and French with my family. Consequently, I have a real, up to date knowledge of both languages, and of the cultures and idiosyncrasies of both countries.

I have worked for several market-leading companies in the industrial and service sectors, in customer-facing administrative and management roles. In all of these roles, the use of my linguistic skills has been vital.

Most of my time in my most recent role was taken up with translating and interpreting for colleagues and clients, and assisting British colleagues as they moved to France. The satisfaction I gained from helping people to communicate, and seeing how quickly I could solve problems which were really worrying them, led me to set up as a freelance translator/interpreter.

My translating and interpreting career is far from being “just a job” to me – it’s how I live. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to live my life in two languages, and I love using my skills to help others communicate.
